  • Student training in Industry and Academic institution is organized every year. This year (January to June 2018) based on the preference of the student, 9 students of 4th (final) semester and 4 students of the 2nd semester underwent training. Eight of the final semester MSc students were trained in different reputed institutes of India for duration of three days to one month (based on availability). The institutes who extended their helping hand included a. UGC DAE Centre, Kolkata; b. Centre of Excellence in Environmental Technology and Management, MAKAUT, WB, Kolkata; c. National Institute of Research on Jute and Allied Fiber Technology, Kolkata; d. Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata; e. Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur; f. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. One student of this batch was trained in a vermculture industry at Tripura (Adarini Vermi Fertilizer and Research Center). Four of the 2nd semester students were trained at Wockhardt, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
  • Four MSc students and four Research Scholars of the Microbial Technology group participated in the Pre-conference workshop (16th -17th July 2018) and the International conference organized by Electron Microscope Society of India at Bhubaneswar on 18th to 20th July 2018. The work presented by one of the MSc student (Abhispa Bora) was preliminarily screened for full paper submission in Microscopy and Microanalysis Journal, Cambridge University press.

  • Dr Shaon Ray Chaudhuri has been awarded Excellence in Microscopy in Life Science at the inaugural ceremony of EMSI 2018, the International conference organized by EMSI on 18th to 20th July 2018 at Bhubaneswar. It is given to Scientist below the age of 45 for their contribution in the field of Microscopy. This year three awards have been given in Life Sciences.

  • The innovative work carried out at industrial level by the department was visited by showcased at the BIG Conclave 2018 on 27th and 28th July 2018 at Venture Centre, Pune. The showcase was inaugurated by Dr Ranu Swaroop of DBT, Government of India. The sites were visited by members of Institute of Engineers, Tripura on 16th June 2018 as well as the Director, Industry and Commerce, Government of Tripura on 12th June 2018.

  • Tripura University signed MoU with Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Gunupur on 2nd November 2016. This is in connection with Microbial technology work between GIET and Microbiology Department, Tripura University.
  • Two Research Scholars of the Microbial Technology group attended the full course (Gyan Course on Sustainable water/waste water treatment: a global perspective at NIT Agartala; 23rd January to 1st February 2017) while the MSc 4th semester students attended the open lecture of the course. The resource person was Prof Arup K Sengupta of Lehigh University, USA.
  • Two 3rd semester students Miss Mandakini Gogoi and Mr. Gourav Bhattacharjee and the Guest Faculty Ms Srimoyee Banerjee presented their ongoing project work at the ICMS 2017 2nd International Conference in Material Science held at Tripura University on 16th to 18th February 2017.
  • MSc 4th semester student Ms Mandakini Gogoi presented her work at Research Conclave 2017 at IIT Guwahati (16th -19th March 2017) and obtained the 2nd position in poster presentation at the conference.
  • MSc 4th Semester student Mr Gaurav Bhattacharjee presented the groups work at the Industry Academia Conclave 2017, Milan Mela Prangan, Kolkata (27th to 29th March 2017).

  • Three of the M.Sc student Mr Gourav Bhattacharjee, Ms Mandakini Gogoi and Ms Ankurita Bhowmik have been selected for undergoing one month training at UGC DAE Kolkata Centre, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata and Centre of Excellence in Environmental Technology and Management, MAKAUT, WB during March and April 2017. UGC DAE is providing them local hospitality and Accommodation, COEETM is providing their research expenses. Travel support for Mr Gourav Bhattacherjee is provided through the Innovative Programs Project by IISWBM to get trained on advanced instrumentation.
  • Two of the students (Ms Ankurita Bhowmik and Ms Mandakini Gogoi) of MSc Microbiology were selected as Project Assistant through open selection held on 9th November 2016 to work on a 7 months project funded by IISWBM with a fellowship of Rs 8000/month.
  • Student Training: Our MSc student (Mr Gourav Bhattacharjee) based on his performance in the project was provided travel support through the Innovative Programs Project by IISWBM to get trained on advanced instrumentation in nanoparticle analysis at COEETM, Kolkata on particle synthesis, antimicrobial testing and DLS while on Scanning Electron Microscopy at Calcutta University Nano Campus, Kolkata from 28th October to 1st November 2016.
  • Research as well as proper training along with regular education is a must for achieving success in professional world. That is what is being practiced at Microbiology Department of Tripura University. The students are trained in such a way that two 3rd semester students Miss Mandakini Gogoi and Mr. Gourav Bhattacharjee presented their ongoing M.Sc project work at an International Conference ‘NanoBioCon 2016’ held on 3rd – 5th October at Kolkata as an oral presentation. Here Mr. Gourav Bhattacharjee secured 3rd position. In continuation with this, the Microbial Technology group at the department has developed a microbial formulation for petroleum effluent treatment which is currently being tested at East India Petroleum Limited, Vishakhapatnam. We wish more success to the department for their future endeavors.
  • The first patent from Tripura University was filed by this Department on 3rd February 2016 entitled Rapid detection of in-vivo sensitivity of a microorganism to an antimicrobial agent dt 3rd Feb 2016 (No. 201631003917)
  • Industrial Training for MSc Final Semester Student : It was for the first time that our students Mr Shayan Saha and Mr Dipalok Bhattacharjee of the final semester of our Department were trained at Biostadt India Limited with partial industrial funding.
