Dr. Ganga Prasad Prasain is working as Vice-Chancellor, Tripura University. Previously he was working as Dean, School of Social Sciences and Professor of Commerce in Manipur Central University, Imphal. He has completed his M.Com and Ph.D. from prestigious Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He has thirty one years of teaching and research experience at post graduate level and fourteen years as Professor in Manipur University, Imphal. His area of specialization is Entrepreneurship Development, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Tourism Management. He has published seven books, seventy two research papers out of which ten papers has been published in International Journals. He has also attended and presented papers in eighty seven national and international seminars and conferences in India and abroad. Prof. Prasain has worked as Head, Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Manipur University for thirteen years. He has also worked as Coordinator of Indira Gandhi National Open University, Manipur University Study Centre from 2004 to July 2020 and Hony. Secretary of Indian Institute of Public Administration, Manipur Regional Branch since 2006. He is a member of first Court of Manipur University apart from being a member of Academic Council and School Board of Studies of Manipur University, Nagaland University, Mizoram University and Assam University. He is also Executive Council Member of Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim University and also the Court Member of the same University. Prof. Prasain is visitors nominee for appointment of statutory post and faculty member in Central University of Gujarat.
Prof. Prasain is the Chief Editor of the journal, Kangleipak Business Review, a peered review research journal published from the Department of Commerce, Manipur University since 1998 which is listed in the UGC websites also. He has also conducted eighteen Seminar/Workshop/Training programme as Coordinator which were sponsored by various funding agencies. Sixteen research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degree under his supervision. He has also completed five major research project funded by University Grant Commission, Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi and Government of Manipur. Prof. Prasain has been awarded Fellow of Indian Commerce Association, New Delhi during the year 2010 and 2014. Prof. Prasain is Petron Member of Indian Red Cross Society. He is also a Life Member of Indian Commerce Association, Indian Accounting Association, Indian Institute of Public Administration, Indian Accounting Association Research Foundation, Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress, North East Indian Commerce and Management Association, North East India Council of Social Science Research, North East Economics Association and few more organisation of national importance. Prof. Prasain has visited United State of America, Myanmar, Bhutan and Nepal on various academic assignments.
