Brief Profile of the Department

The Department of Kokborok started from the session 2015-16. Initially started with a seat capacity of 50 students and subsequently increased to 60 with the growing demands. The Ph.D. programme has started from the session 2018-2019. Kokborok is a Tibeto-Burman language of Bodo-Garo sub-group of greater Sino-Tibetan family spoken mainly in the North Eastern State of Tripura, India. Kokborok has been recognized as an official language of Tripura since 1979.
