Brief Profile of the Department

The department offers a two-year full-time programme titledas Master of Tourism Administration (MTA) which is the only programme in Tourism Administration available in the state. The programme provides qualitative insights into travel andtourism as well as the hospitality industry. Tripura University startedthis department in the year 2019. The main aim of the department is to train the students to mould them into future managers and entrepreneurs in one of the most booming industries of the present times. The department believes in a holistic approachto developing the inner potential of a student. Tripura has immense potential in the tourism sector which is still untapped and there is ample opportunity for the students to explore this sector thus the requirementfor professionals is huge. Students having knowledge of tourism administration, cultural diversity, and natural resources can become the ambassador of the department who could evangelize the idea of sustainable tourism development.Our vision is to dedicate ourselves to imparttraining in the field of travel, tourism, and hospitality administration. The department prepares aspiring students in achieving their goals by providing them with holistic guidance. The mission of this department is to inculcate eagerness among the students to help develop a flair for management education, who continuouslyseeks to improve the relevance and quality to meet the industry needs. We strive to be consistent with our vision, our primary motive is a high-quality content delivery, and our philosophyis to prepare our students in a way that guarantees ready employment. As we know that tourism is aservice industry, therefore our mission is to inculcate human values among students, punctuality, obedience, discipline, and respect to others. We believe that “educating the mind without the heart is no education at all”.
