- The centre had its first state level workshop involving faculty members of T.U and its affiliated colleges. The workshop was conducted with Prof. Ranju Rani Dhamela in the chair, Prof. Pabitra Sarkar, Ex-Vice-Chancellor, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, and addressed the august gathering.
- The Centre had its opportunity to host the visit of Prof. Sukhdeo Thorat, Hon’ble Chairman, UGC, New Delhi on 14th February, 2009, the occasion of opening of the new space of the centre
- The centre had its second workshop and sensitisation programme on social exclusion and Inclusion policy on 17th Feb. 2009. Dr. Narendra Kumar, Associated Prof., Centre for Minority and Dalit Studies. Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi was the key person of the programme.
- The centre has celebrated the birthday of Dr. B.R Ambedkar followed by a workshop on the life and philosophy of Ambedkar on 14th May, 2009, with the participation of faculty members and students of T.U.
- The centre had organised a micro workshop on the Dalits in India and Social Exclusion, Mrs. Deepmala, Senior Resrarch Fellow, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, had delivered a lecture on this issue.
- The centre under extension programme has organised an Institutional visit to I.C.A.R, Agartalla on 9th May, 2009 involving the faculty member and the students of Rural Management and development of T.U.
- Under Extension Activities, the centre is now actively engaged in forming SHGs in the adjacent villages of TU. To start with the centre is in the process of adopting one Panchayat named Khash Madhupur for developing capacity building of the people below the poverty line.
- The Centre had organised a seven days training programme on “PRA for Social Inclusion” with the participation of students from social sciences and humanities.
