University has established a number of experimental greenhouses (Plant house) within the campus of the University. The facility has been created with financial support from DBT/DST, Govt. of India and other Central and State government funding agencies. It allows for greater control over the growing environment of plants. Depending upon the technical specification of a greenhouse, key factors which may be controlled include temperature, levels of light and shade, irrigation, fertilizer application, and atmospheric humidity. Greenhouses may be used to overcome shortcomings in the growing qualities of a piece of land. These greenhouses provide excellent opportunity to the Research scholars as well as post graduate students for experimental purposes.
An animal house was established in the Tripura University for Academic research purposes in 2014. Only rodents are housed in the animal house and are used in the research and academic purpose. This animal house meets the requirements as per guideline of Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA) and is registered with the CPCSEA. An Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) has been constituted as per CPCSEA guideline and reviews the scientific projects of the University. The facility undertakes maintenance and care of experimental animals. Funded projects need approval of the IAEC before starts the work with animal mostly for academic purposes.
