Brief Profile of the Department

The Department of Psychology, Tripura University launched its MA Psychology and Ph. D. Psychology courses in 2012 with a commitment to prepare psychologists as professionals for significantly contributing to the development of the society at the local, national and international levels. These courses offer specializations in Clinical Psychology and Organizational Psychology. Due emphasis has been placed in developing psychologists with innovativeness in order to enable the students to become self-employed.  We train our students as teachers, counselors, therapists, trainers and researchers by cultivating mastery over the relevant skills in the areas of human behavior and mental processes.

Our Department has suitable Psychology Lab to assess the various aspects of behavior of an individual. There is also a Computer Lab that provides opportunities to the students for accessing digital library, conducting computerized survey and experiments, research data analysis, networking with other like-minded academicians, etc. Students attend internship program for a full paper in a well-established rehabilitation center/hospital/organization. The Department started a Mental Health Counseling Center to cater to the mental health needs of the students and also for the public. Students from Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, West Bengal and Tripura come to study either MA or PhD courses
