State Biotech Hub

Brief Profile of the Hub:

The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India has financed for the establishment of State Biotech Hub SBT Hub) Infrastructure Facility to Tripura University, Tripura (west) as State Biotech Hub. During last one year, the hub has trained eighteen successful candidates in biotechnological methods. Hub is also making an workshop in a year. Some of the necessary expensive equipments have installed for the first phase and in coming year in the second phase more equipment will be installed for state of the art research work. The Centre is located at the ground floor of old I T Building. It has two laboratories – laboratory-I equipped with different equipments and bacteria and fungus culture facility and laboratory-II equipped with different equipments and mammalian cell culture facility.

Objectives:

To train some students with theoretically as well as using modern instrumental facility where minimum time required to produce better results maintaining international standard. Researchers from the university and other parts of the Tripura state can avail this facility getting prior date from the in charge scientist. Once in a year a workshop is being held where hub provides hands on training to college teachers, research scholars, and other scientists using the laboratory facility of the Hub.
